Everyone loves candles at Christmas time, and what could heighten the cozy feeling even more? A handmade, unique candle holder in earthy color tone to give as a gift or decorate your home with.

Here’s how the candle holder is made:

I start by making templates in paper for all my designs. Then the clay is kneaded thoroughly. I use a special kind of rolling pin to make slabs of clay, the technique is called slab-building. They need to dry slightly before I can cut, bend and join the pieces of clay. When the item is finished, I leave it to dry before it can be bisque fired, then glazed, and then high-fired to approx 1260˚C (cone 8). The whole process takes several weeks from start to finish.
