DO'S AND DON'TS
Marketing as a creator is about telling your story in a way that feels real, relatable, and intentional. Your social channels are more than just promotion tools, they’re where your community lives, where your brand voice develops, and where customers begin to care about the person behind the art.
From our experience working with hundreds of independent creators, the most successful creators approach marketing as a form of creative storytelling, blending high-quality visuals with behind-the-scenes intimacy and consistency.

DO'S
• Tell a Story: Let people in. Show your process, your inspiration, your workspace, your packaging. Create an emotional connection by letting followers follow your journey, not just your finished product.
• Prioritize quality over quantity: But still aim to post consistently – 1 to 4 times a week.
• Try Different Formats: Video, carousels, and reels tend to get more engagement than just static images.
• Build a Niche: Know what makes your work unique and why someone would follow you – especially if they don’t already know you. Look at creators you admire and ask: What do they share? How often? How do they speak?
• Engage With Cay & Other Creators: Regularly interact with Cay Collective’s posts – comment, like, and share content. This helps our followers discover your account. Also, follow and engage with fellow creators.

DON'TS
• Don’t spam or post low-quality content just to stay active.
• Don’t post things that are completely unrelated to your work or brand.
• Don’t disappear for months, consistency matters more than perfection.
• Don’t copy others, take inspiration, but stay true to your own voice and aesthetic.
• Don’t ignore your audience, reply to comments and DMs when you can.
