Watercolour by Signe Lindquist, who was born in 1897. It was originally a sketch for her porcelain painting, an art form she devoted herself to for many years. Now, after lying dormant for several decades, her sketches are being brought out of the drawer.
For this particular tray, Signe was inspired by the illustrations of Maria Sibylla Merian (1647–1717). Botanical illustration is a genre often derived from models dating back a long way.
To date, only 25 copies of the tray have been printed.

The trays consist of birch veneer sheets that are assembled by hand before being moulded under high pressure and heat together with the design, which is printed on paper. The trays are then protected by a melamine-based surface coating that makes the surface heat-resistant up to 130°C.
