This artwork delves into the complexities of perception, questioning the reliability of our senses and the truths we choose to overlook. Sight, often regarded as our most direct connection to the world, is both a gateway and a barrier. With our brains constantly filtering external stimuli through processes like selective attention and sensory gating, do we really see what is before us? These processes, essential for managing the overwhelming influx of information, often disregard what the brain deems unnecessary or irrelevant. However, this filtering may inadvertently obscure deeper truths. The brain’s tendency to prioritize familiar or expected stimuli over novel or complex ones can lead to a distorted perception of reality.
