Bésame Mucho II is part of the Longing:Distance collection, a series of works that explore the human need for closeness and love – and the invisible barriers we often create against the very things we long for. The written words symbolize a desire to be seen, heard, and accepted, while the tape serves as a reminder of the obstacles – both physical and emotional – that we place between ourselves and others.
The artwork is a poetic reflection on the eternal interaction between desire and distance, between the courage to love and the fear of being hurt. It invites us to question our own boundaries and perhaps, just perhaps, allow ourselves to receive the good things life has to offer.
