BatVader’s Breakfast On Promenade Des Anglais Original

It took almost 20 years for me to make this painting. Not the painting process but getting the chance to sit on those iconic blue chairs on Promenade Des Anglais in Nice, France and turning that memory into a painting. You might ask why I didn’t go before, it’s easy. I’m not an artist who exploits people’s feelings to get attention for my art. In short, I’ll say that life brought obstacles in my way; life doesn’t allow you to do everything you want whenever you want. Every person is going through so many problems anyway. Therefore, talking about what I’ve been through in that time period has no benefit to anybody. It’s in the past. Now, looking back, I know why everything happened this way. I was destined to make this painting now. If I had been there 20 years ago, probably I wouldn’t have turned it into a painting. And this is why, as a good friend mentioned to me, it feels more special for me now. It was a glorious morning in Nice; the day after my arrival. It was going to be my first breakfast there. Got out of my hotel (Hotel Suede) around 7:30 and walked to Old Town area to look for a boulangerie for breakfast. The sky was magnificent with some colorful clouds from the sunlight early in the morning. As I was walking around, saw that Jeannot was open at that time. (Next to the opera building) 100 years of history would be making tasty bakeries, right? Yes. I was so hungry and wanted to try as many as I can so I bought a croissant, a pain au chocolat and a sandwich with a cup of coffee. Then I walked to the Promenade and sat on one of the blue chairs. It was a bit chilly but felt so good to have that breakfast accompanied by the sounds of the waves hitting the pebbles on the shore. I’ve sat there for one hour and continued my exploration of Nice.
