'1986 till now' is the series of paintings that over a year developed into a further series, The BAT collection. Painted emotions captured in simple portraits. The collection has nothing to do with Batman, the mask is there to be just a mask to protect the face from view. ZM's previous paintings are often seen as a background in this new series, which creates a mysterious meta perspective. The motifs often express a nonchalance and cheekiness, sometimes emptiness. Some examples of this are often cigarettes and unbroken glances staring into the viewer. This can be seen as a blow to the elitist fine culture that has never fallen on good ground with the artist. Where a few determine what is good and what is not good art.
