A crochet couture piece made by second hand carpet warp and waxed thread, dyed with black tea and decorated with two vintage freshwater baroque pearls. An honor to our native coastal lines, the edge between water and land, the ever changing landscape we magnetize towards to be just human and connect with our origin. A place where we, like small treasures, find traces of life beneath the surface and beyond time - fossils, dried kelp and the deep blue shells from the blue mussel - the inspiration for this bag.
Blåmussla Purse - an honor to the practice of embodying the landscape your soul derives from. Absorb, become, generate and multiply the beauty through you into the world. Inspired by the blue mussel, how its sacred geometric shapes act like nourishment and purity for our oceans, a life in symbiosis with the moons tides and coastal ebb and flow. Seen in northern mythology as both the giver and taker of life on sea and used as a common sacrifice to our god Njord, the impact of this quite common blue shell seems to be truly endless.
