BatVader at Casa Batlló, Barcelona Original

It was December 1st, 2025 and I had a booking for Casa Batlló early in the morning. Since it was just a block away from my hotel, I was passing by this beautiful construction every day which was designed by Gaudi. I was excited to see this funky architecture after watching an amazing flamenco show at Palau de la Música Catalana, another funky place. (You can also see my painting of that place.) I’ve chosen a very early time slot because they are usually less crowded. The moment you enter the building, the design captures your mind. It is totally an unusual design and every corner is full of details. Not only the design with the shapes and colors but also the build quality and the materials used are amazing. As always, tried to take my time and observe as much as I could. There are some parts which people don’t look at. For example, don’t miss the terrace at the back of the building. 

Although the window is not exactly in the shape of an arch, kind of looks like one. At least I see it that way. As in my other paintings with the same concept, the character is facing towards the light or to a brighter area from a darker spot. The textured art at the bottom represent the shapes of the stained glass at the top of the window. Right then I decided that this view would become a painting and happy that I could transfer it on canvas. 

It was another beautiful day from my trip to Barcelona. Walked all around the city, tasted delicious food and even handed a painting that I’ve made as a gift. Although I tried to observe much, it wasn’t enough. I know that if I go to Barcelona again, I will be booking a visit to Casa Batlló for the night with the lights on. Maybe I’ll make another painting…
