About Nicolae
Nicolae Sisianu, is a London based visual artist exploring the emotional layers of the human experience and the interplay of their environments, aproaching themes such as nostalgia,dreams and a day in the life or often objects we consider ubiquitous around us but which and are a essential part of our daily life, evoking a sense of familiarity, joy and belonging. Working primarily in oil and often experimenting with other mediums such as acrylics, watercolours and pencils.
My work focuses on the raw interplay between the physical form and internal emotion—whether it's through loose abstract or figurative laced meanings in oil master compositions, with simple sketches and detailed pencil artworks in between. I’m drawn to themes like identity, memory, and the unseen dialogue between humanity and their environment and circumstances.
Each piece is an attempt to capture a moment of vulnerability or transformation, often balancing technical precision in my figurative practice with expressive even chaotic mark-making in my abstract pieces while exploring emotional state in a impulsive and unconstrained manner. More than often I'm invested in slower paced workings on elaborate artworks aided by the inspiring nature of the medium or the subject, streching over months at the time, leading to a deeply refined body of work.
