Hey, I’m Maria! A ceramicist based in Stockholm, working with stoneware on the wheel and by hand. My process is a mix of steady throwing and the more creative shapes that come from hand-building—I like when objects have a bit of an ego and aren't afraid to take up space.
I’m drawn to the 'happy accidents' of the firing process. I often choose glazes that are unpredictable; it’s that element of surprise that keeps the work exciting. For me, the most compelling pieces are the ones where the chemistry of the kiln has added its own finishing touch, making the final object far more interesting.
A scary process but so much fun.
