Collection: Johanna Åkeby

Johanna Åkeby’s artistry stems from her background in political science, women’s rights activism, and art studies in France. She views art as a powerful tool for social, emotional, and mental transformation. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences, the fluidity and duality of water, and the art movements of Dadaism and Surrealism, her work seeks to provoke change and reflection.

She primarily works with graphite and colored pencil, but also explores oil painting and sculptures in fabric. Her choice of materials reflects a softness she feels visually drawn to, while also serving as powerful mediators of the memories that dictate her life. Each piece becomes a visual expression of her subconscious, offering a glimpse into her inner world.
