Collection: Hilde Plessers

Hilde Plessers is a Belgian artist who lives and works in Testelt, where she has had her studio for two decades. Her artistic education began at Sint-Lukas Brussels and continued at the academies of Leuven, Aarschot, and Anderlecht.

Her practice focuses on translating the immediate surroundings into layered images in oil paint. In her landscapes, like grazing animals do not serve as the main subject.
Plessers explores the atmospheric light, the gentle power of the creaures, and the interaction between the meadows, rows of trees, and the sky. These works are a reflection on the natural environment outside, but equally inside, and the quietude that arises from it. In addition to landscapes, she focuses on portraits of people from the village, composers, and intimate interior paintings. In this latter series, she captures fleeting patches of light and reflections in everyday spaces, which she describes as burning moments of the day.
