About David

Rushing water, fractals, and branching forms that grow from themselves, repeat, and create pattern and rhythm.

In my artistic process, I aim to evoke a dreamlike image—blurred and indistinct, yet intensely clear at certain points. Like how, in a memory, you recall a specific movement, angle, or moment in time, while all surrounding context has disappeared. Why is this particular image so important, when everything around it feels so distant that it might as well be a dream?

In my oil paintings, I use fluid paint and broad brushstrokes to create an initial sketch, which I then develop by adding details and contrasts.
In my ink drawings, I spend hours placing dots on the paper in various spiral formations. These are repeated thousands of times, with different densities and patterns, to create textures and tonal values. The layer of spirals forms an image that constantly shifts focus depending the distance.
