MOMAL is the practice of Swedish artist and designer Emelie K. Ekblad, developed between Stockholm, Barcelona and central Portugal.

Moving between abstraction and fragments of the recognisable, her work explores states of becoming — the pull before a decision, the body moving before certainty, the work of building toward what does not yet exist.

Layered, scraped and repeatedly returned to, the paintings hold colour, memory, place and physical life close together. Each collection grows from lived experience — intimate, restless and unmistakably human.
