When Way Out West reaches out and asks if you want to be a part of it, you really don’t say no.

So, Cay gathered three of our talented creators and headed to Gothenburg to be part of this year’s festival and the launch of The Way Out West Market. This is a new space built around independent creativity, artist collaborations and a more conscious (and fun) take on festival merch. The idea is simple: to rethink what a festival merch can be, while giving independent creators a bigger platform during one of Sweden’s biggest music festivals. Meet the creators who joined us:

RKE DESIGN

Rebecka Ericsson founded RKE Design in 2020 as a way to further explore her creative interests. Inspired by everyday life, her work reflects her passion for digital design, colors and shapes. Rebeckas words; “Through my art, I strive to spread joy and inspire others to follow their dreams and try new things. With my love for creating and a constant drive to keep evolving, I hope to be a role model for everyone out there who shares the same vision of creating something from the heart and from what drives them forward in life”.

KLARAMIK

Klara creates unique, colorful objects and functional pieces in stoneware and porcelain using hand-building techniques. You can recognize her work by its playfulness and curiosity, as she constantly explores new methods, techniques and color combinations. The result is personal, functional objects designed to bring joy to everyday life. Each piece is made with care and carries traces of the hand that created it.

TYKEN

Emma is the creator behind TYKEN Studio, based in her beloved Gothenburg. Using hand-building techniques and stoneware clay, Emma creates everything from functional objects and home decor to one-of-a-kind art pieces. You can recognize her work by its perfectly imperfect feel, earthy tones and playful use of color, pattern and texture. Each piece is made to feel unique, warm and full of character, with the hope of bringing a little more joy into people’s homes.

So, how did it go?

We nearly sold out and our hearts are full after this weekend! The response to our creators at Way Out West was incredible, and seeing so many of you stop by, discover their work and support independent creativity made the whole experience even more special.

We’re incredibly grateful to Way Out West for inviting Cay to be part of the festival’s market and for creating space for independent creators and handmade work in a completely new setting.

A huge thank you to Klaramik, TYKEN Studio and RKE Design for being part of it, and to every single one of you who stopped by, said hi, discovered something new or brought a piece home with you.

We're already looking forward to next year!
