You don't need to be an established artist or have a large following. The most important thing is that you want to share your expression with others.

 

CAN YOU ACTUALLY SELL YOUR OWN POSTERS?

Yes. You can sell posters with designs you have created yourself. If you sell occasionally, you can often start without registering a business. When sales become more regular, you need to register your business and declare your sales.

HOW SHOULD I PRICE MY WORK?

This is a tricky one for many creatives. But here’s the truth: you deserve to get paid for your time, materials, and artistry. Remember that the price is not just about a piece of paper with a print on it. It's about your work, your style, and how your images make people feel.

Tip: Look at similar posters and styles. Factor in your paper quality, printing costs, tools, time, and the creative work behind each design. It’s better to price slightly higher than too low, it signals value and respect for your craft.

Do I need a registered business to sell posters?

No, you can start as a private individual. If you begin selling regularly or at higher volumes, it’s time to register. We’re happy to guide you through the steps.

What if no one buys my work?

Give it time. Your unique style will find its audience, but it may take a little trial and error. Try different photos, adjust your product descriptions or prices, and swap pieces to see what connects.

How can I make my posters more sellable?

Good photos make a huge difference. Also describe the material, size, and feel. This is where the “selling” comes in, add that extra love to how you present each piece.

What does it cost to sell on Cay?

It’s free to create an account. We take a 25% commission (ex. VAT) on sold items, and we support you throughout the journey.

Do I need to be VAT-registered?

Not at first. But if you sell above Sweden’s VAT threshold, it’s something to consider. We’re happy to help you figure it out.
