This kind of children’s drawing often won’t get a second glance from adults. Careless circles in random colors. But the drawing reminded me of Hilma af Klint’s abstract works. I explored this expression in a large format. I emphasized the organic and imperfect nature of the circles in the painting, while giving them a new softness. My color choices reflect those I made as a 3-year-old, but since the drawing consists of thin lines and is mostly blank paper, my adult interpretation became pastel-toned. The lightness and softness in the painting express an undertone of safety and nostalgia.
The painting can be turned either vertically or horizontally. The childhood drawing is not for sale.
