Treat yourself to a bit of holiday magic with a handmade candle lantern in the shape of a fir tree. This one-of-a-kind home decor, a ceramic handbuilt tree in beige speckled color tone, is designed to hold a tealight candle.

Here’s a step-by-step of how it’s made:

I start by making templates in paper for all my designs. Then the clay is kneaded thoroughly. I use a special kind of rolling pin to make large and thin slabs, the technique is called slab-building. They need to dry slightly before I can cut, bend and join the pieces of clay. When the item is finished, it must dry again before it can be bisque fired, then glazed, and then high-fired to approx 1260˚C (cone 8). The whole process takes several weeks from start to finish.
