My name is Anna Beckman, and I have been creating ceramics for 26 years.

Stoneware is the medium I work with most. I create a lot of functional pottery, but I also do quite a bit of sculpting. I love the unpredictable nature of the creative process and enjoy experimenting along the way. I often let my mood of the day guide my choice of colours and shapes. This means that sometimes I incorporate melted glass into my dishes, use various organic materials to create different textures and effects, or let crocheted doilies leave their delicate patterns on my bowls.

I also like to explore traditional firing techniques such as Raku, Obvara and saggar firing. I am fascinated by the unique expressions and distinctive surfaces these techniques bring to my work.
