Part-time ceramicist for many years, working primarily with functional ware.
Clay is a wonderful yet challenging material to work with. I love how each piece becomes unique— even if, for example, the plates are the same size and stack neatly, they all carry their own individual character. I enjoy the weight and strength of stoneware, and the fact that you can see it’s handmade.
I always work in stoneware, which means everything is oven- and dishwasher-safe. All glazes I use are food-safe.
