My art is not supposed to be pretty, but colorful and raw, which show through thick strokes of oil paint with my palette knife. A chaos exists within me which needs to be satisfied. It’s telling me to let go of all expectations, because nothing is the way you want it to. If I try to control something I allow it to control me. The things I own end up owning me. To control is to be not free. I’m setting myself free by painting without controlling the quick strokes with my palette knife. Channeling this energy with paint results in these artworks. To paint is to relive old memories, both good and bad because i cherish them all. They are me. The faces are too. This is truly addicting. It is like scratching a scab, like suffering from a nightmare but knowing its only a dream.
