About Niklas
The Organic Angel Vases by Studio Radical Softness. They shimmer from pink to purple, aquamarine to green, yellow and silver. With organic shapes remini- scent of underwater worlds and a colour palette that looks like it’s been taken out of a Star Trek film set, Studio Radical Softness’ vases beg your eyes to pay attention.
Multidisciplinary artist, designer and curator Niklas Jeroch started experimenting with 3D printing in 2021, releasing the Organic Angel Vases in 2022 under the Studio Radical Softness label. After working in too many toxic work environments in the arts and cultural scene, Niklas and his young design studio aim to re- present a contrast, standing for exactly what the name suggests: the conviction that true strength comes through softness. This philosophy also applies to the studio’s design approach: none of the 3D-printed vases conform to prefabricated design rules nor succumb to geometric shapes. Instead, inspiration is drawn from fashion, archaeology, fluid movements, marine life, science fiction, and the material itself — shimmering in all the colours of the rainbow. Like relics from extraterrestri- al worlds, they become iridescent eye-catchers in any room, never taking a backseat to whatever bouquet they hold. Just like their designs, Studio Radical Softness does not obey to conventional norms, but rather writes its own principles. And those are new, colourful, queer — and radically soft.
