About Noe

Noe Kuremoto’s ceramics exist at the intersection of mythology, memory, and modernity. Sculpting entirely by hand, she draws inspiration from Japan’s ancient talismanic figures—Haniwa, Dogū, Komainu—reinterpreting them to question what spirits we need protection from today.

Her work explores modern discontent—alienation, disconnection, and the erosion of meaning—offering a counterpoint through simplicity and instinctual forms. Born in Osaka, she moved to London to study conceptual art at Central Saint Martins, initially distancing herself from tradition. However, life’s challenges led her back to mythology, not as nostalgia but as a living language with urgent relevance.

For Kuremoto, art is both an offering and an act of resistance, preserving ancestral wisdom in a way that adapts to the present. Now based in London, she is building a studio in Lithuania’s Lake District, seeking inspiration in nature’s raw truth. Her ceramics, shaped by fire, earth, and spirit, serve as quiet invitations to rediscover lost wisdom and find a way forward.
