Then the clay is kneaded thoroughly. I use a special kind of rolling pin to make slabs of clay, the technique is called slab-building. They need to dry slightly before I can cut, bend and join the pieces of clay. When the item is finished, I leave it to dry before it can be bisque fired, then glazed, and then high-fired to approx 1260˚C (cone 8).
